Beijing inspiration

WEAVER Valley CC are cashing in on Great Britain’s huge success at the Beijing Olympics cycling.

Since the medals started to pile up the club membership has surged and now stands at more than 100, many of them schoolchildren.

Husband and wife Rob Kilby and Jayne Kew were in tandem in producing excellent results.

Jayne recorded a new Weaver Valley CC club record and personal best of 2hrs 12mins at the Holme Valley Wheelers 50 miles time trial.

Rob, meanwhile, rode to an impressive 2:00.12 and followed that by clocking 224.81 miles at the West Cheshire 12-hour time trial.

Jayne covered 210.6 miles in the stormy conditions.

Sunday’s club run leaves Hartford RBL Club for Two Mills, Wirral. Club nights continue at the same venue on Mondays 8.30pm.
